In the beginning…
Even as a young woman, Annette the founder of Begonia was curious about natural health and skincare. She started experimenting with different skincare recipes to make creams and facial masks using natural products such as beeswax, honey and vegetable oils.
Many years of evening classes, workshops and further experimenting at home led to a realisation that she had an innate gift and talent for creating the right formula for products that balanced the skin and made it glow with radiance.
Friends who heard about her gift would ask for advice on skincare and request samples of her oils and creams. In time, Annette started a part time cottage industry at home, making small batches entirely by hand, working until the wee hours, after a full day’s work.
These hand made products attracted the attention of discerning men and women, seeking an alternative to the chemically loaded mass market. This created a continuous flow of orders and Begonia skincare was established as a premium brand.
As demand for the products increased, Annette realised that in order to offer Begonia range to the wider community it was necessary to engage commercial production. In July 2011 she outsourced production to a UK based manufacturer, working closely with them to maintain the integrity of the original formulation.
Her pledge today and always is to produce the best natural skincare for the people she serves in honour of her gift and purpose.
